Preston
WAG recently received this gorgeous boy as a surrender to our group. His original adoption group closed its doors, and we are happy to lend a helping hand when he needed a new place to call home.
We would like to introduce you to Preston. Preston is a retired racer with no race name because he had never made it to the track. He was adopted out when he was just under two years old and has been living in the same home since. He is now 4.5 years old. He is cat and small dog safe and weighs 65lb.
Preston needs a home either as an only dog, or with one or two younger female greyhounds who will stand up to his shenanigans. He is a breed snob, so no other breeds of dog please. He does fine with cats, but he is a opportunist. This means he takes any opportunity to take control of a situation, and goes with it. If there is any excitement in the home or yard (whether it be the “greyhound scream of death,” exciting/excessive play, or an injured/seizing dog) he will go after them. For this reason, it is required he be muzzled while playing in any yard (even with 100% supervision) and crated when home alone with other dogs.
He can be nervous around some new people, especially men, but warms up quickly. He loves chew toys such as stuffed Kong, puzzle bowls and chew-safe bones. He can be protective over food, so it is recommended he be fed in his crate.
Preston will need to meet all dogs and family members prior to finalizing any adoption. With all his quirks, he is not a dog for a first time dog or sighthound owner, so experience is necessary.
