Sugar Hawk

Sugar Hawk-- Sugar for short-- was born on 5/7/22. She raced at the Fall Nationals in KS, but never made it to an official race in WV. She is super happy, outgoing, and has a mind of her own! You may be wondering what exactly a Sugar Hawk is; she was given the name Sugar, but because she has a distinct mohawk running down the back of her neck, she was called Hawk as a nickname. That eventually turned into Sugar Hawk, and believe it or not, she actually responds to this full name!

Sugar turns two this May and she certainly shows her young age, but balances it out with extreme sweetness (with a name like Sugar, would you expect anything less?). Sugar is a toddler in every sense of the word and will happily test everything in her path with her mouth. Her foster parents are working on breaking her counter surfing habits, and so far so good! She wants so desperately to get on the couch and snuggle with you, so she'd love that as an option in her forever home, although she hasn't been allowed to do that wouldn't be a deal breaker.

Sugar would likely be happy as an only dog as she can get a little grumpy with the other dogs; other hounds in the home would be ok as long as they respect her space. She has been fostering with a senior cat and doing well overall, but we think a dog-savvy cat that's willing to throw some punches would be the best kind of cat for her to live with.

The best family for Sugar would be one that is active. This landshark has energy to burn and we think lots of walks would make her happiest. She is sleeping through the night in her crate, has mastered stairs, and has been doing well with housebreaking.
